North Carolina Oyster Tour

So many oysters. So little time. Aww shucks!

Join Hungry Town Bike Tours of Beaufort on a culinary bicycle tour for the North Carolina Oyster Tour. You'll start at the waterfront on Front Street with a ride through beautiful historic streets, stopping at several of Beaufort’s best culinary treasures. Inside, participants will nosh and sip on some of the most delicious flavors on the Crystal Coast and hear the inside scoop on the restaurants and the people that make them great.

Tour participants will enjoy delicious appetizers and samplings at three different restaurants where the main dish is fresh local oysters! Your guide will share stories about Beaufort’s history, as you see the many ways that oysters are prepared.

In addition, participants will stop at Beaufort Olive Oil Company where they have paired a few of their oils and vinegars in the recipes for people to create their own oyster dishes at home.

At the end of the tour, each couple will receive one dozen Cedar Island Select Oysters packed for travel from Fishtowne Seafood in Beaufort. Single participants receive one-half dozen oysters. Since its inception in 2004, Fishtowne has focused on buying local seafood harvested by local fishermen.

The oysters come wrapped in authentic fish net from the original Net House in Beaufort. Known locally as the Seine House, the nets were made in Beaufort. So, participants get to take home a small piece of Beauforts' maritime history.

The North Carolina Oyster Tour will take place during “A Toast to the Coast Restaurant Week” from March 31 thru April 4, 2014. Tours will be conducted Monday thru Friday starting at 12 Noon during that period.

Hungry Town Bike Tours are limited to a maximum of eight participants, allowing for a more of an intimate and manageable group that offers you maximum enjoyment. The tour will last approximately 3.5 hours.

The cost for the North Carolina Oyster Tour is $69 per person. The culinary bicycle tour includes your local guide, food samples, some drinks (alcoholic beverages are additional), taxes and restaurant gratuity and, of course, North Carolina Oysters to go. Bike rental for the tour is free.
